Turbo Charge Your Credit Card Reward Points : Standard Charted’s “Everyone’s A Winner” Campaign
Ladies and gentlemen, for your credit reward program, let’s start your engine now!
If your hold any Standard Charted Bank’s credit card, and you used your card frequently with charged at least RM400.00 per months, the bank want to reward your loyalty by turbo charge your reward point 12 times more than the average amount.
Called it “Everyone’s a winner”, the campaign runs from March til 31 May 2007. To participate, you first have to send a SMS to register which cost you 30 sen. Next is very simple, you just have to swipe your card on any retail purchases and on-line bill payments. Autopay, Easy Payment Plan, Flexi Payment Plan, Balance Transfer are excluded.

But there is caveat, to earn those extra reward points, you have to meet a minimum number of using the card (F) and amount charged (A). Here is the detail
12X of reward points. You must charge the card at least 8 times and the average amount (X) charged during that months must be more or equals to RM50. The average amount is calculated by dividing the total charge per month divided by frequency of card use (X = A/F where F ≥ 8, X ≥50). If you used the card less than 8 times, sorry, not extra points for you. If you use the card more than the minimum 8 times but the amount remains RM400.00. Sorry, no extra points for you too. To qualify for 12x points, you have to swipe you card anything from a minimum 8 to maximum 19 times per month with an average amount charged of RM50.
And if you are those can’t live without using the card, you can get more points. If you use your card 20 to 49 times while maintaining the average amount of RM50. You get rewarded with 30X reward points. And if you use the card 50 times and above, you get 75X reward points.
Some fine prints
A total of 1 billion bonus reward points are given but it is on first come first serves basics. And since those bonus points only credited to your account 6 -8 weeks later after the end of the calendar month, you might want to be careful of plunging yourself into this bonus point frenzy. In addition, since the bonus point is always awarded in a chunk of 12X, 30X and 75X, the real ‘occasion’ of getting the 1 billion bonus point is actually equals 83.3, 33.3 and 13.3 millions respectively.
So let burn the math and start talking plain English. On average, to get 12X, 30X or 75X bonus reward point, you have to do the following:
- For 12X : Use your card 2 times a week. Total amount charged must more than RM400/mth
- For 30X : Use your card 5 times a week. Total amounts charged must more than RM1,000/mth
- For 75X : Use your card 12-13 times a week. Total amounts charged must more than RM2,500/mth
Of course, petrol charges are excluded.
